«دوازدهم آذر به نام روز جهانی معلولین نام گذاری شده است. چنانکه نوشته‌اند بیش از پانصد میلیون نفر از نوعی معلولیت رنج می برند. واقعیت آن است که جامعه انسانی باید همواره به این بخش از خود نگاه همدلانه داشته باشد و به هم دردی گذرا بسنده ننماید. مشکل گشایی از زندگی معلولین وظیفه همه ماست.

حضرت امام درباره معلولین تعبیر جالبی دارند که مناسب است با هم بخوانیم: "آنچه انسان به او انسان است، روح انسان است نه جسم انسان. دعا کنید که آنهایی که روحشان معلول است، آنها شفا پیدا کنند و دعا کنید که شما جامعه معلولین جسمی، معلولین روحی نباشید. اگر روح شما سالم باشد و روح شما آزاد و قوی باشد، چه باک که دست یا پای انسان معلول باشد."»
