مرحوم شیخ مفید در کتاب امالى مى نویسد: ‎وقتى شب عید فطر-که شب جوائز نام دارد- فرا مى رسد، خداوند پاداش روزه گیران را بدون حساب و شمارش عطا مى کند

و صبح روز عید که فرا مى رسد خداوند فرشتگان را به همه ‏ی شهرها مى فرستد. و آنها مى گویند: اى امّت محمّد! به سوى پروردگار بیرون آیید که او پاداش فراوان مى دهد و گناهان بزرگ را مى آمرزد.

خداوند عزّ و جلّ به فرشتگان مى فرماید: شما را گواه مى ‏گیرم که من پاداش روزه‏ ی رمضان و نمازهاى ایشان را خشنودى و آمرزش خود از ایشان قرار دادم.

و خداوند مى‏ فرماید: اى بندگان من! هر چه مى‏ خواهید از من بخواهید که به عزت و جلال خودم سوگند مى خورم که امروز در این اجتماع هر چه براى دنیا وآخرت خود بخواهید عطا مى‏ کنم.

باز گردید که آمرزیده شدید همانا مرا خشنود کردید و من از شما خشنود شدم.
