در پی درگذشت آیت الله محمدی گیلانی، حجت الاسلام والمسلمین سید حسن خمینی پیام تسلیتی صادر کرد. به گزارش پایگاه اطلاع رسانی جماران، متن پیام تسلیت یادگار امام به این شرح است:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

انا لله و انا الیه راجعون

درگذشت عالم مجاهد و یار روزگار غربت امام ، حضرت آیت الله آقای محمدی گیلانی طاب ثراه، بی شک برای همه علاقه مندان ایشان و دوستداران امام عظیم الشان ما ( س) ضایعه ای مولمه است. آن مرحوم که سالها در محضر امام تلمذ نموده بود و سالها نیز سمت استادی یادگار امام را دارا بود، عمر با برکت خود را در راه امام خمینی طی کرد و با ایستادگی دوره های سخت زندگی خویش را پشت سر گذاشت. بدون تردید حمایت های ایشان از امام و بیت ایشان در روز های سختی، از نقاط درخشان زندگی آن مرحوم است. اینجانب ضمن عرض تسلیت درگذشت این بزرگوار به بیت عزیز ایشان و همه بازماندگان ، از خدای متعال علو درجات آن مرحوم را مسئلت دارم.
