در پی درگذشت محقق جلیل القدر و عالم والا مقام حضرت آیت الله آقای حاج شیخ عزیز الله عطاردی، حجت الاسلام و المسلمین سید حسن خمینی پیام تسلیتی صادر کرد. به گزارش پایگاه اطلاع رسانی و خبری جماران، متن پیام یادگار امام به این شرح است:

درگذشت محقق جلیل القدر و عالم والا مقام حضرت آیت الله آقای حاج شیخ عزیز الله عطاردی طاب ثراه موجب تأسف و تأثر گردید. مرحوم عطاردی از زمره عالمان و محقّقان ارزشمندی بود که می توان گفت در تلاش علمی لحظه ای را فرونگذاشت و از تاریخ  و جغرافیای خراسان - که خود متعلّق به آن خطّه بود- تا حدیث و رجال همواره اثری از خود به جای نهاد. اینجانب ضمن عرض تسلیت درگذشت ایشان به دوستداران و بیت مکّرم عطاردی، از خدای سبحان علّو درجات آن فقید سعید را مسئلت دارم.

آیت الله شیخ عزیزالله عطاردی از علمای برجسته  و استاد اخلاق که  شامگاه جمعه دار فانی را وداع گفت. مراسم تشییع پیکر این استاد فقید امروز (شنبه چهارم مرداد) ساعت 17 از خیابان دربند، سه‌راه جعفرآباد (مرکز فرهنگی خراسان) به سمت امامزاده صالح تجریش برگزار می‌شود و فردا یکشنبه ساعت 9 صبح از مقابل مهدیه مشهد به سمت حرم مطهر امام رضا(ع) تشییع خواهد شد.

وی پنجم آذرماه 1307 شمسی، در روستای بگلر از توابع شهرستان قوچان به دنیا آمد. آموزش های اولیه و روخوانی قرآن را در روستا از پنج سالگی آغاز کرد. در سال 1325 وارد حوزه علمیه قوچان و پس از دو سال در سال 1327 وارد حوزه علمیه مشهد شد. در آذرماه 1331 مشهد را جهت ادامه تحصیل به مقصد تهران ترک کرد و در فضای تهران، کار تصحیح متون و همکاری با ناشران و محقّقان را آغاز کرد. شیخ عزیز الله عطاردی از چهره‌های ماندگار و استاد برگزیده اخلاق و نیایش در آیینه هنر و پژوهش و نویسنده مجموعه 70جلدی مسانید اهل بیت (علیهم السلام) بود.
