در پی درگذشت حجت الاسلام والمسلمین محمد هاشمیان، حجت الاسلام و المسلمین سید حسن خمینی، پیامی تسلیتی خطاب به آیت الله هاشمی رفسنجانی صادر کرد. متن این پیام به شرح ذیل است:

حضرت آیت‌الله هاشمی رفسنجانی (دامت برکاته)

در گذشت مرحوم آیت‌الله اقای حاج شیخ محمد هاشمیان رحمت الله علیه موجب اندوه همه دوستداران آن بزرگوار شد. آن مرحوم که از روزهای تدریس امام در قم تا ایام اقامت ایشان در جماران از یاران امام به حساب می آمد و از سال‌های سخت مبارزه تا روزهای پس از انقلاب همواره همراه نهضت اسلامی بود، یکی از یاران با صفای امام خمینی به شمار می رفت.

دوستی و صمیمیت ایشان با یادگار امام(ره) نیز، از اموری است که از خاطره ها فراموش نمی شود و در یاد آشنایان همیشه باقی است. اینجانب این مصیبت را خدمت جنابعالی و بیت محترم آن مرحوم به‌خصوص همسر محترمه و فرزندان عزیزشان به ویژه جناب حجت‌الاسلام و المسلمین آقای حاج شیخ علی هاشمیان تسلیت عرض نموده، از خداوند متعال علو درجات آن فقید سعید را مسألت دارم.
